Entertaiment

Entertaiment

The word entertainment has become strongly associated with amusement, although it can also have a serious purpose–as in a ceremony, religious festival or satire. Entertainment is often highly adaptable, with an enormous range of pre-recorded products available to entertain an individual in his home; or a banquet adapted to two; to a performance intended for thousands. Many forms of entertainment are familiar because they have been reinterpreted in other media–for example, the story of Scheherazade from the professional storytelling tradition inspired orchestral works by Rimsky-Korsakov and Ravel, a film adaptation and an innovative video game. You might see the abbreviation entmt used on a flier or in industry news publications where space is at a premium.
